Gum Care 101

In this fast-paced world, it is hard to notice things, but one thing people stop and notice is a great smile. One way to ensure that smile of yours stays beaming and healthy is to take care of your gums. Gums are easy to avoid but tough to miss once there is a problem. Luckily, there are some easy tips to help with gum problems before they cause a big pain.

What are signs of inflamed gums?
Signs of inflammation can include red, swollen and tender gums as well as bleeding when you brush and/or floss. Other symptoms include bad breath, mouth sores and gum tissue that is receding at the base of the tooth.

What are the causes?
Gum disease is often caused by the build-up of plaque. Sometimes we forget to brush, floss or take those extra few minutes to take care of our teeth. In order to prevent the build-up of plaque, we must remember to take the time to floss, brush, and rinse thoroughly each day.

How to prevent gum inflammation and gum disease:
Brushing and flossing are very important aspects to dental health. In addition, regularly scheduling cleaning will help to ensure that plaque isn’t living on those teeth for long.
